East meets West Braised Pork Shoulder

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 150°C/300°F.

  2. Heat a large frying pan over medium-high heat and add vegetable oil. Sauté pork for about 3 minutes until the pork is no longer pink and starting to brown.

  3. In a medium bowl, mix the rest of the ingredients. Pour over the pork and bring to a boil. It may look a lot of water, but it will reduce.

  4. Once mixture has boiled, transfer all to an ovenproof dish and cook for 2 hours or until very tender.

  5. Garnish with spring onions. Serve over noodles or steamed rice.

  1. Rave reviews from the whole family! Served with rice noodles and stir-fry veggies, it’s super simple to make and very tasty. This recipe will definitely become a regular on the menu.

  2. delicious! needed a little more salt for flavour. I did it ahead and froze it to later serve with brown fried rice and toppings. The only thing is I needed to thicken the sauce a little just before serving as it was quite watery to serve as a sauce.
