Sweet Home Alabama!
A land saturated in southern sunshine and arched by blue skies, Alabama state is a true jewel of the Deep South.
Known as the ‘Heart of Dixie’, Alabama was king of the cotton states in the 1800’s, but it’s much more than cotton that comes out of the southern state now. The people of Alabama work steel mills and coal mines alongside the cotton fields of old, but what remains is the pride in their southern heritage. As the home of what the world has come to call ‘comfort food’, cuisine plays an important part in the heritage of Alabama – and with good reason!

Alabama Specialties:
It’s from Alabama that we get some of our old favorites – traditional dishes that are fried, slow-roasted, or smoked, and that make you feel like coming home.
And it’s from Alabama that we get some fresh twists on original recipes, thanks to an extended growing season, plenty of sunshine and abundant harvests. Nowhere else but on a menu deep in Alabama do you find delicacies like green tomatoes from an early harvest, fried in a light cornmeal coating. And only in the southern kitchen do you find the staple Alabama White Sauce – a delicious southern condiment with a mayonnaise base and a tangy surprise of horseradish, it’s a dangerously addictive substitute to the barbecue sauce found in most other states.
Like the state it comes from, Alabama cuisine showcases a tasteful medley of the new and old, and the results are vibrant and unique with a sweet southern tang. It is this distinct food heritage that calls us to Sweet Home Alabama.
