For those who appreciate a blend of rustic charm and Mediterranean sophistication, a well-crafted table setting can transform any meal into a memorable occasion. Here are some tips and ideas to create a similar look.
Â
Start with a rustic wood table as your foundation; the natural grain and texture of the wood provide a warm and authentic base for the Mediterranean theme. By skipping the tablecloth, you allow the table’s raw beauty to shine through, adding to the overall rustic appeal. If you do not have a raw timber table, a natural, plain tablecloth will also look beautiful. Choose a lightly textured woven material such as linen.
Â
For dinnerware, choose simple, earthy ceramic plates in neutral tones like beige or light grey. These colours keep the focus on the natural beauty of the materials, rather than patterns. We have complemented the plates with silver or pewter flatware, though black or bronze would also look amazing.
Â
To tie in with the earthy tones, opt for napkins that are already in your table setting. We used rust and olive green; rust tying in with the ginger pots and the olive matching the olive leaves. We displayed them in a rough knot, however you could drape them or put them in a napkin ring.
Â
Olive leaves are a great option for centrepieces. We opted for 2 smaller bunches at either end of the table. These look great in neutral-coloured pottery; we used two-toned ginger pots. We added some beeswax candles for ambience and some varying height to the table setting.
Â
Your guests will appreciate the thoughtful details and the warm, welcoming atmosphere you’ve crafted. Enjoy the beauty of your table setting and the memorable moments that it will undoubtedly bring.
