Southern Smokehouse Meal with a Twist

Southern Smokehouse Meal with a Twist

One of the most iconic and well-loved cuisines in the world is that of Southern USAโ€“ it is thought that this traditional feast originated from indigenous tribes and African slaves who had their own methods of slow-cooking meat, and over time this has evolved and merged with European cooking methods such as marinating and smoking.

Wherever it has its roots, the classic Southern barbecue is unmatched โ€“ try it next time you have guests. With a little careful planning you can produce a delicious and stunning smokehouse-style dinner.

Set the scene โ€“ keep the tablecloth, napkins and dinnerware earthy – leather-look placemats, copper cutlery and linen serviettes are very pleasing. Rounds of timber can be used for table placemats or just a stunning centrepiece. Add in some greenery, such as pine, and use a small sprig of this pegged onto the menu card as well.
